Cold-drawn seamless steel tubes are high-precision steel tubes manufactured by drawing hot-rolled seamless tubes through a die at room temperature (without welding). They feature high dimensional accuracy, excellent surface finish, and superior mechanical properties, making them widely used in fields requiring high performance and reliability. Their materials mainly include carbon steel (e.g., SAE 1010, ASTM A179 Grade A, which is low-cost, easy to machine, and suitable for general engineering), alloy steel (e.g., 4130, ASTM A213 T91, containing elements like chromium and molybdenum, with outstanding strength and high-temperature resistance), and austenitic stainless steel (e.g., 304, 316L, which has excellent corrosion resistance and ductility, suitable for high-temperature and corrosive environments). In terms of specifications, they comply with international and industry standards such as ASTM A179/A179M, ASTM A213/A213M, DIN 2391, and GB/T 8163, with an outer diameter typically ranging from 0.25 inches (6.4 mm) to 630 mm, a wall thickness from 0.035 inches (0.9 mm) to 75 mm, a length mostly between 3-12 meters, and a surface finish of Ra ≤ 1.6 μm. Chemical compositions vary by material grade; for example, ASTM A179 Grade A contains 0.06%-0.18% carbon and 0.27%-0.63% manganese, while 316L stainless steel contains 16.0%-18.0% chromium, 10.0%-14.0% nickel, and 2.00%-3.00% molybdenum. In terms of mechanical properties, the cold-drawing process enhances their strength—for instance, ASTM A179 Grade A has a minimum tensile strength of 47 ksi (325 MPa) and a minimum elongation of 35%, while 4130 alloy steel has a minimum tensile strength of 90 ksi (620 MPa) and a minimum elongation of 20%.
